Happy New Year!

Okay, so I might not have a real MFA, but I did learn to write romance by writing fanfiction. Let me explain, I have been a lifelong reader and writer but in just about 2 years I logged over 600,000 words of fanfiction on Archive of Our Own, the notorious fanfiction website. So, I like to tell people I got my MFA from AO3! Now I write original works, and I can officially call myself a published writer!

My debut novel, Dishwasher Safe, about a Mermaid that falls for a Dishwasher, the guy who washes dishes…not the appliance…has been met with positive reader feedback and has yielded a growing fan base.

The Witch of Wall Street is coming out March 25, 2025!

Are you looking for a witch in Finance? I love a good cottage core witch book as much as the next girl, but some of us are big city, career focused witches, and we deserve books as well.

All of your big city witchy wishes have been answered by The Witch of Wall Street by M.J. Etkind. I am so excited to introduce my sophomore romance novel exploring the magical melting pot of New York City.

I would love to send you an Epub file of Dishwasher Safe. I will have The Witch of Wall Street ARCs available towards the end of the month. Please let me know if you would like me to send along either book.

Are you looking for a guest on your podcast?

I have availability throughout winter and spring! I would love to talk about writing romance, the time I went to an oyster shucking class for research, and if lobster potato donuts are a real thing! As a certified witch in finance, I would love to talk about real life inspiration. And of course, how I learned to write by writing a lot of fanfiction!

On a more serious note, I have been vocal about my support for indie bookstores and how readers and authors can protect these institutions. I am also dyslexic and have written about being a dyslexic writer and the (non-generative AI) accessibility tools I use to edit such as text to speech.

I know you get a ton of requests from authors just like myself, and I understand if neither my books or me as an author, are right for your show, but I still wanted to offer free books and ARCS either way!

Let me know if you are interested!

Will The Witch of Wall Street Fall for the Wizard of Small Miracles?

When Nelson unexpectedly woos Miriam at a benefit, they reconnect in a night of ill-advised passion. Due to a bit of chaotic magical misfortune, Nelson and Miriam are forced into a supernatural quest across New York City. Miriam’s chaotic magic only seems to muck up their adventure as they encounter an enchanted dumpling house, a Jinn who runs a CPA firm, and a poisonous leather shop in Little Italy. Lucky for her, Nelson can right it all with a wave of his hand. Through their unlikely partnership, Miriam finds herself unexpectedly attracted to the altruist. Their budding affection makes Miriam begin to wonder if she can stand by and watch her firm crush the dreams of the wizard who miraculously stole her heart.

Miriam Blum is a witch with a prestigious finance job. Independent to the core, she has mastered her chaotic magic and excelled at her high-powered career. Her personal life, not so much. She practically lives at the office with little time for anything or anyone.
Though, she occasionally allows herself some fun, like turning her coworkers’ computer mice into the live furry version.

Nelson Copperfield has always been the golden boy, do-gooder, and the wizard of small miracles. He also happens to be Miriam’s high school rival. Nelson has always been the type to lend a magical helping hand. Much to Miriam’s self-sufficient consternation, she was often on the receiving end of these little miracles when they were younger. It was unsurprising to Miriam to learn Nelson found a career in nonprofit work. She is highly skeptical of people who help for a living, sure of an alternative motive.
